HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE?

  • If renting in Destin, Miramar Beach, 30A South Walton, or Panama City Beach, you must be at least 25-years old to rent and/or drive.
  • If renting in Navarre Beach or Pensacola Beach, you must be at least 22-years old to rent and/or drive.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO RENT A VEHICLE?

  • Valid vehicle insurance information and a driver’s license are required to be submitted on the legal rental agreement for all drivers.

WHERE AM I PERMITTED TO DRIVE MY RENTAL VEHICLE?

  • The vehicle is prohibited to be driven on sidewalks, Highway 98, sand/beach, or on streets that have a speed limit over 35-MPH. If renting in Navarre Beach or Pensacola Beach, it is unable to cross any bridges. It is able to cross Highway 98 at fixed intersections, such as:
    • Holiday Isle: To the Target/Winn-Dixie plaza
    • Destin: Destin Commons or Silver Sands Outlet
    • 30A: To the North Inlet Shops
  • To see a list of prohibited areas in Walton County, please visit: Low Speed Vehicle Laws
  • If you are staying at Camping on the Gulf, these vehicles are not street legal. This community is located directly off of Highway 98, therefore, there are no other streets available to be driven on regardless.

HOW MANY PASSENGERS CAN RIDE ON THE VEHICLE?

  • We offer four passenger, six passenger, and eight passenger vehicles, and there cannot be more passengers than the size of the vehicle. For example, if you have a six passenger, it can only have six people. It is prohibited for children to sit in the lap of an adult, they must have their own seat and car seats are permitted (by law, children three and younger are required to ride in a car seat.) Please note that a car seat counts as a seat, so if you have a six passenger, you can have the car seat and five other passengers.

WHAT TIME WILL THE VEHICLE BE DELIVERED?

  • We do not offer a guaranteed time of delivery on your scheduled delivery date, as our attendants have until 8:00PM CST to make all scheduled deliveries. Please note that you do not have to be at the property at the time of the delivery.

WHEN WILL THE VEHICLE BE PICKED UP?

  • Our attendants begin picking up rentals around 4:00AM CST. Please leave the vehicle in the area where it was first delivered (an area that is accessible) with the keys in the lockbox or you will be charged for a missing key.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A SEAT BELT?

  • Other than Camping on the Gulf, our vehicles are street legal and therefore, require seatbelts to be worn at all times.

IS THERE A WEIGHT LIMIT?

  • A four passenger vehicle has a weight limit of 800-lbs.
  • A six passenger vehicle has a weight limit of 1,200-lbs.
  • An eight passenger vehicle has a weight limit of 1,600-lbs.
  • The weight limit on the rear seat of the cart (any size) is 300-lbs.

I RENTED A GAS VEHICLE, DO I NEED TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK UPON RETURN?

  • We will provide one full tank of gas upon delivery and there is no need to top off the tank at the end of the rental; just leave it with whatever gas is left. LDV provides one tank of gas, so if you run low and need more, that is at your own responsibility and please do not use diesel.

CAN I RENT AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE?

  • To rent an electric vehicle, you must have a garage to store/charge it in and you must have written permission from your rental property manager. Please be aware that you need to charge the vehicle while not in use; the vehicle must be turned off to charge and do not use an extension cord.
    • Half Charge: 1.5 hours
    • Full Charge: 5 hours (Distance on a Full Charge: 28-30 miles)
  • If you will be staying at Camping on the Gulf, you are only permitted to have electric.

Forward and Reverse Operation

Forward and Reverse

  • Troubleshooting: Operation

  • If the vehicle accelerates, then slows down rapidly after holding the pedal down, it is the governor controlling the speed. If the pedal is not pressed all of the way down, this will not happen.
  • When the vehicle comes to a complete stop, the engine will cut off, but when you accelerate it will start back up.
  • TO REVERSE: If you are sitting in the vehicle, there is a lever under your right leg. Moving the lever to the left puts the cart in drive (forward) and moving the lever all of the way to the right puts the vehicle in reverse and it should beep.
  • GAS CARTS: The gas gauge will only work while the accelerator is on
  • ELECTRIC CARTS
    • If the battery goes dead due to not being charged, it will click over to “tow mode” and it will not ask/alert you for a charge. The toggle under the seat will need to be flipped to be able to charge it.
    • The chargers are located under the rear seat

Lockbox Location and Operation

Lockbox Locations

  • Troubleshooting: Keys & Lockbox

  • To unlock the lockbox, the code must be centered in the dial and then press down on the left lever and pull open.
  • Please make sure that you are using the lockbox that is physically attached to the vehicle, not one inside of the property.
    • The lockbox is either mounted to the dashboard (near the steering wheel) or on the underbelly of the seat, not down in the engine.
    • On a four passenger vehicle, the lockbox could be under the first-row seat.
    • On a six passenger vehicle, the lockbox could be under the second-row seat.
    • On an eight passenger vehicle, the lockbox could be under the third-row seat.
  • If you are having trouble opening the lockbox, please take a pen, key, or small hard object to press down on the latch. This will often open the stuck latch as sometimes they require hard pressure to open.
  • If you have been provided a complimentary/seasonal vehicle through the rental property address, and the key(s) are not in the lockbox, please check around the house in case they were not returned to the lockbox upon departure of the previous guest.
